Located adjacent to the Lutsen Mountains Ski and Summer Resort, the project is envisioned as a year-round retreat taking advantage of the many outdoor activities offered by the Superior National Forest. Four vacation rental cabins, each with its own sauna and fire pit, are outfitted with a modest palette of materials: corrugated metal siding, cedar siding, and plywood interiors.

The cabins are elevated on concrete piers to accommodate a sloping site and an annual 120 inches of lake effect snow. Subtle shifts in plan and section provide privacy between neighboring cabins, distinct public and private spaces within, and framed views of the coniferous forest beyond.
